Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Snack Bag Math

Secret Lives of Mormon Wives Snack Bag Math

I did the math—if every mom on the reality TV show Secret Lives of Mormon Wives (on Hulu) swapped to Neco snack bags, just think how many plastic baggies would be kept out of the landfill!!!

9 moms + 22 kids + 3 on the way—this doesn’t even count the dudes and we all know that if the wives told them to start using Neco Snack bags they would hop to it!

The average American uses 1–2 plastic baggies a day—think kids’ lunches, snacks at the park, in the car or food on the go.

Just one school-aged kid can easily go through 1–3 plastic bags per school day (sandwich + two sides).

And we KNOW these women aren’t average!

Let’s use the average of 2 baggies per person per day, and do the math…
    • 2 baggies/day × 365 days = 730 baggies per person/year

Now multiply that by:
    • 9 moms = 6,570 baggies per year
    • 25 kids = 18,250 baggies per year

If all 9 moms and 25 kids made the switch to Neco Foodie Bags for one year…
They’d keep 24,820 plastic baggies out of our oceans and landfills.

That’s something both sinners and saints can get behind!

But you might be wondering… how many Neco Bags would you really need to make the full swap?

That depends on how often you do laundry…. But most people wash laundry 1–3 times a week. However, if your Neco Bag just held a crackers or carrot sticks, you can easily shake it out, give it a quick rinse, and reuse it the next day.

Let’s break it down:
If one person uses 7–10 Neco Bags per week, a family of four would need about 28–40 bags total.

Even at the higher end—40 Neco snack bags currently cost $280 so for a family of four—the cost comes out to just $0.76 per day for 1 year!!!

And remember, Neco Bags are built to last well beyond just one year.
Some of the bags in our baggie drawer are over 5 years old!!!
